Year 4 - Black History Month!
Maracas hold a lot of spiritual and cultural significance, especially in West Africa, and our Year 4 students had a great time making paper mache maracas of their own! Well done to our students for all their hard work and effort!
Year 5 - Black History Month!
Our Year 5 students also dipped their toes into making African-inspired masks using different tools and techniques! They did such a wonderful job, and we're so impressed with how their final pieces turned out! In addition, they conducted detailed research on the life of Harriet Tubman in the ICT room!
Year 3 - Black History Month
One of the most notable political philosophers and activists was Martin Luther King Jr who made striking efforts to the liberation of African Americans in a racially-segregated United States. In addition, he was a leader of the American civil rights movement and he organized a number of peaceful protests. Our Year 3 students enjoyed learning about the life of MLK Jr, and made fantastic booklets, as well as their own iterations of African masks!
Reception - Black History Month!
Jewellery has been part of African culture for over 75,000 years, and it's historical impact on African culture was celebrated in our Reception class where they made beautiful necklaces and bracelets inspired by the designs they'd seen!
