This week, our Year 6 class held an engaging Diwali assembly for our Primary students in which they informed us all about the story behind Diwali, and the different customs and traditions which take place during the holiday!

Commemorating the War

November 11th marks the Armistice, the end of a cold, gruelling war that plagued British History. Otherwise known as WWI. Throughout the country, people hold two-minute silences in schools, and pin poppies to their lapels, in order to commemorate the sacrifice many soldiers made for the country. But did you know that Muslims also played a role during the war? At least 2.5 million Muslim soldiers and labourers from all over the world fought with the allied forces with dignity and honour, and so while discussing this crucial time in British History, our students also acknowledged the Muslims whose stories are equally as important, and classes also held discussions on other wars, such as those in Palestine and Somalia, where they addressed the impact that such events have upon people and the fights for freedom currently taking place.
