Year 1 - DT Drop Down!

Year 1 had an absolutely fantastic time becoming mini engineers! The children began by learning about different mechanisms and movements—everything from how scissors work to why a seesaw balances. Inspired by these everyday examples, they set out to design their very own ‘Matching Sliding Game’. They thought carefully about slider sizes and ensuring their mechanisms moved smoothly. After that, they chose meaningful word and picture pairs to include in their game. With great enthusiasm and creativity, Year 1 produced a collection of playful, impressive games—well done, Year 1!

Year 6 - Drawing Landscapes!

As part of our Art Drop Down Day, Year 6 were challenged to look closely at natural and man-made environments while working on their landscape artwork. They explored perspective, depth, and colour blending techniques to bring their scenes to life, drawing inspiration from famous landscape artists and real-world surroundings. Their creativity and skill shone through, and we look forward to exhibiting their final pieces in our upcoming gallery.

Year 3 - Designing Cushions!

Year 3 have been busy putting their creativity and design skills to work by designing their very own cushions. Pupils began by sketching different patterns, shapes, and colour combinations before selecting their favourite ideas to develop further. They carefully considered fabric choices and layout, thinking like real designers as they planned how their final products should look. We’re excited to see their ideas come to life as they move on to the next stages of sewing and construction — their finished cushions are sure to be both colourful and unique!

Year 2 - Still-Life Drawings and Exploring Art Materials!

Year 2 embraced their Art Drop Down Day with enthusiasm, trying out a range of art tools including charcoal, pastels, and varied pencil grades. They experimented with mark-making, shading, and texture before moving on to the first stages of their still life drawings. The focus and care they put into observing shapes and details was impressive, and we can’t wait to see how their artwork develops further!
