Making Vanilla Milkshakes + Lemonade - Years 2-3

As part of their lessons on instructional writing, our students in Year 2 made vanilla milkshakes using a variety of different ingredients such as vanilla ice-cream and semi-skimmed milk (no sugar, though!). Following instructions is a key life skill that children can utilise for their futures, and by adapting lessons into a more interactive setting, our students can develop their culinary capabilities while working alongside their peers. Similar to Year 2, our Year 3 students also took a practical approach to instructional writing by making lemonade in class! Not only did our students achieve their goal of making a refreshing cup of lemonade, but they were able to fine-tune their teamwork and cooperation skills!

Visiting Moat Mount Centre

Moat Mount Centre continues to be a popular activity centre for children of all ages - its provision of stimulating, educational and exciting activities fosters children's teamwork skills and their self-confidence. Our students had a fantastic time as they participated in challenging teamwork puzzles and outdoor activities like archery; their geographical map-reading skills were also put to the test as they explored the forest terrain during orienteering!

Workshop with Khayaal Theatre!

This week, Years 3 to 6 got to experience an engaging and interactive theatre workshop which allowed our students to interact with Islamic stories and fables in a new, unique and creative way. It was fantastic to see our students flourish when faced with opportunities like this which allowed them to tap into the performing arts sector and encouraged them to think about what contributions they could make to this creative space. We'd like to thank Islamia Primary School for hosting the workshop, and Khayaal Theatre for putting on a fabulous performance for our children.

Year 2 - Our Beeautiful Book Corner!

Our Year 2 students love their new book corner: it's become a place they can curl up with a good book, and get lost in the pages of a fictional world. They've even got a little bee mascot to keep them company while they read!
