Year 2 - Using Cookies and Cubes to Learn Fractions
This week, Year 2 have been getting hands-on with their maths learning as they explored fractions and amounts using cookies and cubes. By sharing cookies into equal parts and using cubes to represent different quantities, the children developed a clearer understanding of halves, quarters, and how amounts can be divided fairly. This practical approach made the learning both engaging and meaningful, helping to build confidence as they applied their knowledge to real-life contexts. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing understanding throughout these activities.
Launching our new Nasheed with Omar Esa
We are incredibly proud to share a special achievement from our school choir this week. The children had the wonderful opportunity to work alongside Omar Esa to write and perform their very own nasheed: SubhanAllahi Wa Bihamdihi SubhanAllahil Adheem. They showed fantastic creativity, teamwork, and confidence throughout the process, from developing lyrics to refining their performance. The experience was made even more memorable as the students also filmed a video to accompany the nasheed, giving them a real insight into the production process. We are delighted to announce that the finished video is now live on YouTube, and we hope you enjoy watching and celebrating the children’s hard work and talent.
Year 3 - Making Egyptian scrolls!
Year 3 have been thoroughly enjoying their topic on the Ancient Egyptians, showing great curiosity and enthusiasm as they learn about this fascinating civilisation. As part of their work, the children designed and created their own scrolls inspired by Ancient Egyptian art and writing. They carefully considered the use of symbols, patterns, and storytelling, producing some wonderfully detailed and creative pieces that reflect their understanding of the topic.
Year 2 - Newspaper Reports!
Year 2 have been working hard in their English lessons learning all about the key features of a newspaper report. They have explored how reports are structured, including headlines, subheadings, captions, and the use of facts to inform the reader. The children have enjoyed identifying these features in real examples and have begun applying them in their own writing, showing great enthusiasm and creativity as they develop their reporting skills.
