Year 3 - Positive and Negative Handprints!
In their art lesson this week, Year 3 explored the concept of positive and negative space by creating striking handprint artwork. The children began by tracing their hands and experimenting with different colour contrasts to make their designs stand out. They learned how the shapes and spaces around their hands could be used creatively to produce bold, eye-catching effects. The classroom was soon filled with vibrant prints that showed a wonderful mix of imagination and technique — a brilliant display of artistic thinking and creativity!
Year 2 - Making Sandwiches!
This week, our Year 2 children enjoyed a fun and tasty lesson in the classroom as they learned how to make their own sandwiches! The students talked about healthy food choices, planned their fillings, and carefully followed step-by-step instructions to create their delicious masterpieces. They practised important skills like spreading, cutting safely, and working neatly — and of course, the best part was getting to eat their finished sandwiches! It was a wonderful hands-on way to combine learning with life skills.
Year 2 - Creative Collages
In art, Year 2 explored texture and layering by making their own colourful collages. They used a range of papers and materials to create vibrant designs, experimenting with how different textures can transform an artwork. The results were fantastic — full of creativity and personality!
Year 4 - Making Pottery!
This week, our Year 4 students had a fantastic time exploring art inspired by African culture! They rolled up their sleeves to shape their own clay pots, learning how to smooth, pinch, and form their designs with care and creativity. Once their pots were ready, the children decorated them with vibrant African-inspired prints, using bold patterns and bright colors that celebrate the beauty and diversity of traditional African art. The results were stunning and it was a wonderful hands-on way for students to connect creativity with cultural appreciation.
